29mm carbs

i think i have got a set of early 29mm smoothbore carbs,can anyone verify this for me somehow,bin on z1 carb site,they dont have 17mm nut underneeth,but they do measure 29mm,if they are,has anyone got any floats for them. :shock:

You really need to post some pix! There's a how to at the top of the discussion board. Then we can see what you're talking about, I know it's hard to start with but trust me it makes life a shit load easier in the long run :D

Pics would be good, also where are you taking the measurement on the carb?

inside measurement on engine side ,it is 29mm.and the top cover has 2 screws to hold it on.

29mm smoothbores have a large hexagon drain plug on the bottom of the float bowls,

got chrome slides in em as well,tops have 3 screws

29mm smoothbores have brass floats. They also have only one fuel inlet located between carbs #2 and #3.

Just a thought if you measure the older style 28s(z1 z1a z1b) at the engine side they measure nearly 29mm,just checked with my sets.Hope thats of some help

Not all Mikuni sbores have a 17mm bottom plug, some of the early ones have a drain plug, I also have a set with plastic floats. What they do have is a slide that goes around the needle jet block giving a straight venturi and a combined needle jet and emulsion tube and there is only one casting for both left and right side carbs with redundant bosses left undrilled.
