NGK Plugs - Shite ? Why ?
I've seen a few posts saying that NGK plugs are less than stellar, why ?
Dunno if there is any HARD proof, but there have been a few members with problems caused by dodgy NGK's...
Whereas the Denso plugs rarely seem to soot-up/foul/miss/knacker
I've never had any issues with NGK, but decided to go to LEMMING mode and follow the pack, as general concensus says Denso is best...

And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!
I've never had a problem with NGKs, they can earth out when running really sooty fixed a zxr that did that but the pilots were WAY too big on that.
Running ND U groove at present 'cos I got them cheap off Jack, but when they've gone will probably go back to NGKs from my local car shop.

Plugs
Always followed the old NGK route but always struggled on start up
Have been following the debate and thought i'd try the Denso's on both bikes
Extremely pleased with result - fires up even first press of the button on both
No turning back for me now!

hmmmmm...well, I bought a set of B7ES's (hotter) and a set of B8ES's a month or so ago. The 7's are in it now and hadn't sooted up at all while I had just the open header on. But now I have put the can on, they have sooted up a bit. The carbs have still yet to be synced as I am waiting for my mate to come by with a set of gauges. I'll see how they do once the carbs are all singing the same tune. I must have gotten them pretty close because it starts first try from cold cold cold and seems to be running pretty good, but then I haven't had it on the road yet to see how it goes under load...........yes, we've had more cursed snow
and my paint work ain't back yet anyhow

A mate of mine who builds modern and classic race engines will only use DENSO.
I run a couple of Porsches and NGKs always seem a little under par on the few occasions I've run them. Soot up too. I usually use the Bosch item supplied by the dealers.
Nothing special - reliable and reasonably clean between 12,000 changes.
However, I recently bought a 944 that had all the paperwork up to date for servicing / parts used etc. The history claimed the plugs had done 10,000 miles - so I went to change them along with the rest of the service items and found them, unusually, to be ND items. They were the cleanest plugs I've seen - they looked like they'd done only a few hundred miles. No erosion at all. It was as if all traces of carbon had been sandblasted off. Amazing. Now I only use ND on my cars and bikes - they're great.

In the past I have always run NGKs. They were after all the accepted standard quality plug.
When I bought the old gurl she was smoking like a bastard. She soon started missing. The plugs weren't too dirty but weren't sparking well. I found several sets of NGK plugs in the tool tray under the tail piece. I soon discovered on here that the problem I was having with the plugs failing when a bit wet was common place with modern NGK plugs. Following the advice on here I bought two sets of Nippon Denso plugs. I fitted one set to the bike and stuck the other set in the tail piece. I never had to change them again all year. When I stripped the engine the plugs were soooo fouled that there was barely any gap for the spark to jump. But she always started easily and ran fine. I am absolutely sold on Nippon Densos.
The Bride's lawn mower wouldn't start last weekend. After getting pissed off with tugging the string I whipped out the plug. Was a bit wet but a long way from drowned. I heated the bugger up with an electric paint stripper to dry it and give it a help in hand. Bastard still wouldn't start. Went up to the local mower shop. Face fell a bit when I saw the obligatory NGK stand. I asked the sales person if they had any plugs that weren't NGK. I was treated to a respectful knowing look that proved to me that the Z1OC are not the only folk on the planet to have sussed that NGK a living on a great name but are now selling shit. Needless to say after fitting a genuine Briggs and Stratton plugs (at no more cost) the mower roared into action with minimal tantrums!

By mid afternoon though it was beautiful sunshine and warm.....I almost took the Vulcan for a scoot. I had just finished putting the wheels back on after getting new booties installed and was itching to go.....common sense prevailed though and I wheeled her back into the shed
This is the longest winter ever !!!! And yes it may well be spring, but that's all relative...grrrrrrrr

Had snow Easter weekend in Derbyshire, looked really nice Sat morning

Well, checked a few of the larger automotive supply places today as well as some bike shops - no one can get the Densos. I even called a Toyota dealer as they are the parent company - all they can get are the ones for their cars, which seems kinda daft.
Maybe I'll contact them and look into becoming a supplier.....just figured I'd give a set a try if the NGK's don't work up to snuff
