Those shox look a bit like some I got off eBay a while back, but they were for a very small/light bike

Those shocks yes, I am not sure about the size, just got them, I will check the size on these against those ELR shocks, but physical they look the same I think??, but.... maybe they are to small? :boom

(The ad for them claims that they will fit V-Max, but who knows)

As i can see they named Nicetect, a relativ big factory in China and some Google brings up this;

"The company specializes mainly in the production of shock absorbers for motorcycles with as many as 49 varieties and nearly 100 types, which have been widely sold home and abroad. It is one of the most comprehensive companies in China, which boasts products of wide and complete varieties and excellent services. "

Here is the link

But as they say, you've get what you pays for, or something like that... :D

Looks like a fun project Roy. Great pictures. Is that your own blast cabinet? I was looking at making one myself, but I don't have enough room in my workshop.... guess I'll have to build another workshop on the back of my workshop

The pictures are coming

Its my own blast cabinet, cheap China product, costs 100 Pund or something like that her in Norway.
But it does the job, its really nice to have that cabinet, makes everything more easy.

Oki, today I will show you guys what paint I prefer for the engine, and also every part of the bike except the frame.

We are talking about oven baked paint, named Gun-Kote

This paint is new for me, but what I have seen makes me very sure about quality and durability.

Basic line is to sandblast the part, degrees it (this is very important to do proper), if its a solid steel/iron part, not some cast product you spray on a product called K-Phos to prevent rust and then preheat on 50 degrees C. until the whole part reach that temperature.

Then spray the part with the chosen colour with a cheap airbrush, I use a little cheap oil free air compressor.

When you are satisfied with the paint coating then put it back in the oven, but on 163 degrees C. for one hour, bake time starts when the part reach that temperature.

When the part is finished the only thing that can remove it is blasting or grinding. No chemicals whatsoever can remove it.
And it will manage temperatures over 260 degrees C full time.

"Minimum initial oxidation temperature 460 Degrees C
Thermal breakaway @ 500 degrees C Minimum"

Used on an air cooled engine you also have up to 8-10% better cooling because the paint dissipates the heat better.
Its also very thin, thickness is typical .0004 of an inch, so its no problem with threads and close tolerance fits.

Over to the fun part, pictures :rocks

Here is the K-Phos.

A cheap little laser temperature probe to find the exact temperature.

Finished!

I think its nice to reuse what I can, it saves the environment and money, and its nothing wrong with that.

Then is time to take some engine parts.

Image
Well, the picture tells it all, doesn't it.

Image
As I said...

Image
After sandblast, I use ordinary brown sand, 01-08mm I think.

Done! :P

Waiting for an new oil eye.

And finally, the colour I chose for my 1100cc engine, on the J.

I like GOLD......

Well, that's all for a little while, this is so far in the project, waiting for more gold paint from US so I can cover the engine half's.
Also need to kick a machinist, am waiting for the triple tree...

I also have a lot to do elsewhere, so no new pictures for a week or so I think.

So tell me did you like the gold colour???
After much thinking it ended up like this, and I really likes it :xbou

Have nice night!

I have the exact same make of sandblaster. Do you find it tends to clog up easily? In the end I go so fed up of debri clogging it that I made an external gravity fed hopper so only clean media goes through it. Then I sift the internal media before putting it back in the external hopper. Laborious but effective.

Do you have a water filter on the air hose?

If you see on the picture on the paint gun there is on there, I also have one on the compressor. It have to be mounted straight up, otherwise it does not function like it should.
