z1000A1 swinging arm

#1 PostAuthor: flateddie » Sun Aug 30, 2015 3:56 pm

Hi Guys,

Anyone know the width of a z1000 A1 or A2 swinging arm at the wheel spindle? mine came with cast wheels, scored a pair of spoked wheels but my swinging arm is a far too wide with the standard wheel spacers. My swinging arm is 245 mm so think it may have came from a J model like the wheels.

The sprocket carrier hub section is not interchangeable between spoke and cast wheels due to different width so this could be your problem !

hi there I remember seeing that somewhere and sure enough on mine the bosses on the carrier are a different profile to the cush drive on the spoked wheel , when i stripped the bike and took off the cast wheel a load of washers fell out with the spacers and when I bought the spoked wheels they came with the sprocket carrier. I found an old post where someone was looking to fit wider wheel to a z1000 and he had 7 and 1/2 " from the swinging arm to the brake carrier mine is more like 8 and 1/2". I have fitted a zephyr 1100 front and back end and just getting all the standard gear together in storage to return to standard at a later date

Just been out and measured my Z1R swinging arm .
The wheel is still in so this measurement could be a midges out at 223mm .
