Gear changing

#1 PostAuthor: sprint » Mon Feb 02, 2015 10:05 am

Have just purchased an A4 which I am in the process of doing a complete strip and re-build on.

With the engine not running I can select 1st and back to neutral without any problem but it is not possible to select any of the higher gears

With the engine running all gears are selectable? Is this normal?

I am only planning to do a top end strip, head and barrel and don't want to be splitting cases. Any suggestions?

Thanks for replies.

Very strange arrangement, never come across that with any other bike. Must be a reason?

But at least I don't have to worry about it and have to spit the cases.

At least you asked before turning the bike upside down and removing the sump, then scratching your head for two hours, then giving up and asking on here

I feel that it always makes sense to ask if you don't know.

Thanks for quick replies.

Its the infamous Kawasaki positive neutral finder. Most if not all of them have it. Helps to find neutral when at a standstill.
