Yeah z1bman is right, going on the part no. and unbelievably that is a bargain judging by what I've seen crappy ones sell for, so if you do decide on absolute originality I'd go for them.

I thought there was something not quite right with those NOS caps, now realised that the A4 along with the Z1's should have a grey shaft, I think the black shank ones where fitted to the Z1000.

So that means those ones on EBay are the wrong type for my A4. Does anyone have a picture of an original plug?

Thanks Z so those caps on Ebay are not exactly correct but I'm guessing I'm one going to much closer!

Do a search for plug caps on the search forum and on page 43 there is a post by tlc which shows the correct caps with the grey shank and wire ring on them.

unless the bike has totally been restored out of genuine parts i would stick with the black ngk caps & save your money. have you got other pattern parts fitted like switches & exhausts ? if not then its not original. if you look on google images of the z1/z1a/b z900a4 z1000 they have nearly all had there plug caps replaced with ngk

Hi new coils arrived yesterday and fitted. I'm going to stick with the NGK caps as suggested and wait for some originals in good time.
The HT leads appear to be longer than needed. Should I cut to length or tuck away?

Just another question on plugs!!!! Just searched metal spark plug caps on EBay and loads came up but obviously not the right ones but look similar.
They are for bikes like the FS1E.
Am I off the mark here?

Hi

Coils fitted from ZPower. Plugs all fitted. Apart from the ht leads there are 2 cables coming from the Emco coil. 1 black and 1 yellow.
Am I right in thinking the blacks go to the points and the yellow to the power?

Also apart from live connection bye passes how can I check the power supply to coil. Where does the power start from as nothing at the double spade.

Primary power doesnt matter whch way round its just a winding in the coil Low tension side, you should have power at the double spade to frame as long as ignition is on and kill switch on,the points earth the power induced in the coil, whch discharges through Ht side via plugs..Power for the coils goes from fuse to ignition switch through kill switch to double spade...splits to both coils

Hi Paul exactly what I thought but no power at the spade. Obviously had it before because the bike has been running.
I double checked the coils both new and old and sure enough 1 of the old coils was duff so I haven't wasted my money so I'm now thinking FUSE!!!!
Which one is it?
