Phil, how about the forks from the ZRX as they are RWU and will probably be as long as you'll find modern fork legs.
Get out there with your tape measure.
Old man Ash's Z1000 had a RWU ZXR750 front end it worked and looked good :D

forks

Yep, I saw his he used an h1 front end. There is also a trick zed for sale on ebay that has usd's but he used a zxr400 setup and claims he literally just changed the bearings on the stem, and hey presto. But what does that do to the height?

I recently had a vtr1000 in the garage (a mates) and that front end would pretty much drop straight in so there are alternatives.
I just fancy using the marcehsini's

I think I will get the stem swapped from an old z1000 yoke into the new ones offer them up and see what they look like. I know they will need extending. But I suppose for ?500 I will end up with forks the right lenght and set up by maxton to cope with the extra weight of the z1000 and a fbstard rider. (me)

I think when I start I'll post the project up on the board, but need to sort the 650 out first.
Cheers
Phil

Phil, might be worth a trip over to K-TECH suspension at Coalville and having a word about re-building,re-valving forks, etc.More local than Maxton.
I've been looking at modern USD front ends, but they're so much shorter than my old GSXR forks that it won't work properly without a good session with the money spanners
Check out Kawaman 21's modded ELR with ZRX 11/12 forks,ZXR9 brakes, looks spot on. :D :D

I'm using Gixxer running gear (17" wheels, 120/70 front & 180/55 rear).

The 180 is a tight fit at the engine sprocket bit. The sprocket cover needed a little bit filed out to clear the chain. I'm using a 630, so a switch to a 530 would be better.

The off-set sprocket is a Debbens billet item although Talon (Yeovil) do one off stuff too.

Riding, handling & cornering all OK, so GO FOR IT

you idiot go back to yer ironing
way too many Zeds
