Bolts

i have just started to clean up the bolts for my engine rebuild. the bolts in question are the ones the hold on the cases, cam, points, clutch ect.
I have just noticed they are all Allen bolts and when checking sizes on the parts list they are all referred to as Hex.
What is correct? and should i stick to the Allens?
Just purchased a 1976 UK Z900 A4 for renovation. Wish me luck.

If they are stainless allen type cap head , then leave them in situ, ....they are better than originals. :wink:

Allen key headed casing bolts are a lot more practical than the original cross / philips headed bolts. Which you have to impact drive to get out, and are a bugger to tighten up. Just my view.

If you want to be totally original, I know that Beezees Kawasaki sell replica casing bolts.

Believe stainless bolts in aluminium are a prob' / corrosion.
Use copper grease.

I have decided to go for all new exposed bolts and going to go for original hex and pan fittings.

My worry now is what finish? should i go for good quality S/S or BZP?
