Fuel Tank Breathers

#1 PostAuthor: Muddychris » Wed Oct 24, 2007 1:09 pm

As usual it's a 1983 z100 elr

There are two breathers coming from the petrol tank. Would i be right in thinking they connect up to the carbs. There are two t pieces between the carbs 1and 2 and again between 3 and 4. That where they seem to go.

Cheers

Chris

Assuming the pertol feed/s are connected, the central tee pieces between 1-2 & 3-4 carbs are not usually connected to anything, I think they're just breathers or overflows :??
Ed or Jack will give an accurate answer, as MKII's ain't my speciality. Some bikes have a link pipe underneath, from one side of tank to other so fuel don't get trapped other side of tank, away from tap.
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

From the fuel tap there should be 2 hoses. One is the vacuum pipe for the tap and the other is the fuel pipe. That is if you've got a std. Kawasaki fuel tap.
Pigford a 1983 Z1000R2 ain't a MK.11.You've got Z1000,Z1000 MK.2 and finally Z1000 J.Now pay attention or Santa want get you what you want for Xmas

Hi lOndon calling

I have three pipes coming from the tank one is the fuel pipe then another comes from the fuel tap this one i have connected to the the bit between 1 and 2 carbs. The other pipe comes from the sender unit this one i have connected to the t piece between 3 an 4 carbs.

Seems right but not convinced

Muddy, I'd of thought the one from the sender is just a breather, to free atmosphere :|

Hi Ninjabob
You say "other 2 go to tap larger is fuel smaller is vac"

I have the fuel pipe sorted the vac one is my problem. if one end goes to the fuel tap (just above the fuel line) where does the other end go to. At the moment i have it fitted to a t piece between no 1 and 2 carbs

Hope you can hel

Cheers

Vac pipe goes to the carb where you fit vac guages . Each carb has a take off point for guages , one to fuel tap and three with rubber plugs . If one is open too much air is sucked in by this carb and bike will run crap . Pipe from sender does not fit to any thing but runs to fresh air between swing arm and rear of engine .
