Another tweak to Muffler position - this looks good for me. Just need to go see a Yoshimura R77 in the flesh and make sure its not too huge then get it ordered and sent to ExhaustCraft along with drawings so they can make the down pipes and link pipe.

The muffler support bracket will probably need a tweak too.

Then its really just the loom - everything else is minor and I can see an MOT mid-late July tops which means lots of riding in August!

These exotic paints and coatings - how do you get them applied to an exhaust as I'm sure most automotive trades people won;t have it or the equipment to apply it?[/quote]

The Suncorite we used was brushed on, left to dry and buffed up. Only applied it to hand guns though. They do get hot but prolly not as hot as an exhaust.

Discussing silencer angles with ExhaustCraft,

My 'slot' has finally come round and am looking into getting it shipped upto Cumbria.

Any tips on reliable / safe nike couriers?

Then its back to Debbens for for carb fettling and hopefully we're good.

Hi all.

So my 'turn' has finally come round at ExhaustCraft and they've started on the down pipes.

I'm pretty certain I just want the short Harris style silencer but am undecided on position and the guys are too far form me to go up for a play.

Any ideas before I press fire?

Post up your silencer sizes / angles / positions!

I've just read about this re-issue Harris (genuine) 4-into-1 in Black Chrome finish which is exactly what I'm after. But its mild steel.

The perfect thing would be to have the ExhuastCraft pipes finished like this.

Anyone know about this finish?

Full details here.

Ginger Bear had some headers ceramic coated that may be the way to get the finish you want on the exhaustcraft pipe

Is it the same I'm wondering.

Its crazy pricey to do a whole exhaust in ceramc too - the same as the price of the exhaust.

Camcoat would prob charge around £200.00 to do the outside of a complete 4-1

Here's a little taster of what they did for me. :drool :drool

That looks pretty cool.

Looks pretty similar to the Harris.

Regular powdercoating for me tends to go a but hazy / like a dark grey after a while which is not what I'm after.

Why did you go ceramic GB? Are the pros in temps and BHP noticeable?

I went ceramic, for both aesthetic loveliness & durability.
The pipes I had were mild steel & all the exhaust paint I'd seen is generally matt.
Pipes were finished with a ceramic 'clearcoat'. Still looked good when I sadly had to sell the thing, although the headers had lost a bit of shine, but I put that down to the 14 arse clenching dyno runs it had with Ray & Steve Debben.
Camcoat will coat the insides too, which I believe will help performance & durability. They'll probably be at Stafford & in the past I know you could deliver your pipes to 'em at the show & have 'em couriered back, but I'd call 'em first to check.

i've just effin' realised that my frame has had the exhaust hanger cut off by the frame finishers. I told them to take a few tabs off here and there but LEAVE the hanger alone.

And what have the c**ts done? How the hell do hang the silencer now. Yeah I could make a bracket that maybe bolts to the old footpeg holes but thats a bodge.

Its been too long now to go back and kick up a fuss. I just never spotted it till now.

FFS.

Might start again with new frame - there's a few things I wanted doing anyway...
