Advice on BRAZING - Not welding!

reynolds 531 tubing is used by cycle frame builders - it can be weakend by overheating it OR USING INCORREDT METHODS - try finding a cycle frame builder in your area - thye should be able to braze them on without affecting frame integrity

yes pigford that should do the job. my son has his own tool design + engineering business + he uses the very same piece of kit for brazing tungsten carbide tips to 20mm thick steel blades for mixing ceramics

Frame is made of reynolds 531 tubing and HAS to be Bronze welded (braze)
DON'T weld as the excessive heat needed to melt the metal will make it brittle and it will crack under load.

P.s silver soldering is not the same as Brazing and does not use the same filler material.

If you were closer i could Braze your frame with the oxy/acet.

As for my latest project, It's currently on hold while i rebuild the Drouin's motor as a result of the the little mishap i hinted at in my OSP log-in prob Pm's .

Mark its best to use an oxy-acetylene torch with a small number weld nozzle for better control and use flux impregnated rods,your local bodyshop should have them.its easy to do just get a few test pieces till you master it.
