ZX1100 engine with 1000r frame

One question while assembling the 1000r frame and the ZX1100 engine. the ZX is going to run with carbs instead of injection. Does anyone know if i can use the wiring from the 1000R with only the specific IC IGNITER of the ZX (electronic advance on ZX instead of mechanical on the 1000R)

I'll look forward to seeing what other people think, my latest project involves fitting a ZX-1100 (GPz1100A2) engine into a Z1000J frame. I plan to use the original GPz1100 loom & ic ignighter. I would be interested to know what other options are available too.

I think it should work but won't give the optimum performance that the ZX ignition unit would.
I know that by fitting GPz igniters to the GT 550/750 models,top end performance is improved by allowing more revs.
Personally I'd rather fit the ZX ignition into the 1000R wiring.

Some progress here, i took out the igniter from the 1100R and apprently the only specific part is the little wiring from the ZX1100 igniter that is divided in two branches (one goes to the left side of the battery ,the other goes to the pulse sensors)..it should work

no it wont work. you will need a dyna 2000. im just finishing the conversion now

mine has zx ignition system running on z1000 j wiring it runs fine..

Actually it works with a minor mod on the 1000R wiring. You need to add a little "diode" (sorry i don't know the word in english) as it is on the ZX1100 wiring....and it runs well....

Diode is English as well probably to stop reverse voltages destroying the IC on the feed wire.
