Rickman Ronal cush drive blues

#1 PostAuthor: Big Fluff » Sun Oct 04, 2009 4:06 pm

Hi all.

I'm helping another fellow Z1OC member (Will Noble) sort out the back end on his 76' CR900.
Although his bike is fitted with Ronal wheels, the back one has an extremely small hub, and looks as though it may not have a cush drive at all (he can't get it apart as it has that much paint on it!).
In addition, this wheel can't run a speedo drive as the wheel has no provision for a drive plate.
This is his wheel below....

However, I've managed to get hold of a later Ronal for him, exactly like mine, complete but minus the cush drive rubber.
Does anyone know if this one-piece cush drive rubber was made especially for the Ronal, or could it simply be a Kawasaki, H****... or whatever.?
Where can I get one from.?
Here is a pic of the inner side of the later Ronal sprocket carrier that it needs to suit.

Cheers, Will

Will it's not a Kawasaki or H**** part
it is listed in the Rickman parts catalogue as part number R21607064
one piece shock absorber rubber

Cheers Paul, I saw that too in the parts manual.
But, I don't reckon that means too much.... as the Rickman fuel tank cap also has a Rickman part number, but is actually a standard Triumph TR7 car fuel cap.... :??
I'll have a hunt around at the autojumble next weekend, I'll take his carrier with me and see if I can find anything that'll do the job.
Haven't you got a spare one that is not used.

I have a set of Itailan aftermarket INTRA wheels. They have the same rubber an sprocket carrier like the Ronal wheels on my Rickman.
I can take some pics of this parts today.

Hi Kawamick,
Nice photo's of your cush drive rubber, just what I've been looking for without any luck. :(
I've decided that the only way to fix it is to try and mould some myself, so watch this space, I've ordered some RTV Silicone and hope to have them done next week if the postal strike does'nt hold things up. Will.

Hi Mick,
I had already found and ordered this, it seems a better product. http://www.tomps.com/shop/black-rtv-sil ... p-212.html same company though.

Thanks Will.

RTV Silicone

#13 PostAuthor: willjanuk » Fri Nov 06, 2009 11:42 am

Just an update on the cush drive rubbers, as they are NLA, I have made my own, I changed my mind on the product and bought this,

http://www.tomps.com/shop/addition-cure ... g-p-5.html

As it did'nt matter about the colour and it seemed better AND cheaper, only Blue.

Basically all I did was put the two sides of the drive together and seal up with silicone from a gun and seal off bearing with a top from a spray can and mix up the RTV Silicone and pour in and leave to set.

I am not going to try and take it apart at the moment, so no photo's of the inside, the proof will be when I get it back on the road to see how long it lasts.

I hope this may also help someone else out. Will.

Im chasing one of these cush drives and another matching Ronal wheel for that matter.
What are my chances of any of you guys having any more parts?

Rickman parts are rare as hens teeth in Australia

I have 1 front Rickman early simeased 6 spoke mag and 1 rear ronal 5 spoke so chasing one of either to create a matching set.

Also I have an old cush drive rubber from this setup if you ever wanted to make another mould. I have a heap of parts that came with the project but 1 box was lost decades ago with these parts.

Also after a swingarm and right rearset, then Im set!
