It was your post of a few weeks ago that got me thinking about these again - they were missing when I got the 650 and I tried the usual places with no joy. They don't even seem to survive onto breakers yard bikes very often.

These are the same ones as for Z1000 I believe. So scarce I am debating whether to even fit them cos they aren't really that functional are they??

Guy,
They are called limiter caps and they fit over the air screw on the underside of 650/1000 carbs from the factory. I think the idea was to set the air screws so the mixture was right and then pop one of these over the top with the tab in the mid position.
The effect of this is to restrict the movement of the air screw to a 1/4 turn in each direction from the factory setting.

I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THIS WAS IMPORTANT ON THESE CARBS. CAN PADDERS OR GARN OR SOMEONE SHED ANY LIGHT HERE?

Looks like I got you there Guy   let me know if you have them fitted on your carbs.

If you need the original kawa service manual that shows these and other fiddly bits drop me a pm.

Yep Mark you have me there  i don't have them on my carbs (i think) but the carbs on the 650 are from a Z1000a2.

Went to Wakefield on my ExhaustCraft piper fitted 650 today and have to say the sound was half the fun. I was a bit nervous passing some stationary police cars, but at low revs or cruise mode it seems not to attract any unwarranted attention. It is a different story at 9500rpm.
Pipes need another polish as they are light yellow to collecter box, is this normal? Would vht paint inside help?
have you any engine mods to go with the VM26mm carbs Guy? have wondered this before.

Thats good to know about the noise level of the pipes Jim (Thanks for that)

It has a 720cc Wiseco kit with Z750 cams and i thought Z1000a2 carbs were 28mm.

Interesting exhaust pics on here Guy

Would like to see what baffle arrangement gets fitted - is it a custom job or a ready made one?

Are they removable to allow re-packing etc.

Wouldn't want to ride behind you with a straight through version

Although MarkGB on here has got a 900 running a 4:1 which has been "lightened" if you know what I mean - and that sounds ok.

I think you with have to ask Dave what the baffle is going to look like as i left it up to him.

Guy, Not up on the later 1000's, just thought later Z900A4 and Z1000 ad 26 with Z1R getting 28.
Did you get them jetted by trial and error, recommendations or dyno tuning? Crofty
