compression deppression

#1 PostAuthor: kwaka » Sun Jun 01, 2008 9:29 am

Hi fellas, after rebuilding the motor on the Z1B we noticed a bit of smoke out the exhaust on a recent run. The bike has only 200 miles on the engine, it had the heads recond. new rings, but the bore was only honed. I did a compression test and got a reading of only 90 PSI per cylinder, squirt of oil made no difference. The local mech. says it still needs time to bed in. What do you think??

Just rebuilt mine, and it does smoke a tad first 30 seconds.....
Don't panic until its done a few 100 miles.... unless it gets worse & worse
Give it time to bed in and hopefully it'll be OK.
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

Did you remember to hold the throttle fully open when carrying out the compression test?

Scared myself with that one on more than one occassion!

All's well, 1&4 150 PSI, 2&3 140 PSI.
