Hey Mike my 74 US spec Z1b has the steering damper hole, as I just fitted a damper today.

Sorry I can't help you with your search though.

Just a clearance hole for an M8 bolt, i.e. Nut & bolt.

What dogs means I think is that hes looking for a Euro bottom yoke which is rather different to the yankee type.
It has a predrilled hole for the damper but the steering lock underneath is different on a euro yoke, rather than a large round hole and barrel lock the Euro item has a much smaller hole to except the small nieman type lock and key.

Nieman but often has small key without crest

Z1Bman

yes well spotted ive made a mistake ( i dug out the later headstock lock set) the key and lock set shown is for the bikes you suggested.

However here is the correct nieman lock set for a Euro bottom yoke and also a pic to show the lock in situ which as you can see is different to the yankee lock arrangement, Our fork assy were 44001-137 z1/A and 44001-163 Z1B and the yanks were 44001-095/44001-136 Z1A and 44001-162 Z1B.
Ive had four UK bikes over the years and they have all had the nieman locks underneath.

The small swivel dust cover and fixing pin is missing so heres a clear shot
