Just a dumb arsed question.. but when your rear tyre is worn do you replace both front and rear at the same time even though your front is like new, and do you replace both with the same make?

If the front is still good then I'd leave it alone. Its normal to replace 1 front for 2 back tyres.

I try and keep the same brand front and back.

As Chris say, best practice to keep same make/type tyres on bikes - But in the real world its usually not a problem with different makes. Try to avoid radically different profiles each end.

Some say Zeds handle bestest with a ribbed front tyre - track truer & steadier :?:

The way these old things handle, at least you ain't gonna spoil there razor sharp, well balance handling manners
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

if you don't want 100% original look then Bridgestone BT45s are really good.

i agree bt45's are great tyres fitted to all my zeds ,, only 1 snag i had to send one back to bridgestone a front less than 1500 miles on it and only 7 months old real bad cracking inside the treads (nearly failed mot ),,, bridgestone aledgedly tested it twice and came up with the same ole get out clause been run either over or under inflated ,, would not replace it tyre was date coded 2008 so maybe a bad batch
