Z1/Z900 Winter Project

#1 PostAuthor: chrisu » Sat Aug 15, 2009 5:28 pm

Well here are a few photos of the Z900 BunnyZ and I recently bought (thanks Mike). As you can see it came already in boxes so today we went through the boxes and did a partial dry build of parts to see what we've got, whats good, what needs work and whats missing - ooh err. We used my A4 for reference.

The eagle eyed amongst you will notice it is not a Z900 front end but a Z1. So because of that we're going to a Z1 style like restore..

Still debating brown/orange or green/yellow - the latter is my preference but Pauls got the tank and is organising the paint.

He also has all the bits for paint, zinc, chrome etc.

Mikey - a lot of work for you I'm afraid - expect a big box in the post soon.

I've pulled the forks apart as the stanchions (sp?) are very pitted - new ones or good serviceable ones needed - any offers ??

Engine covers off for dechrome (Yuck) and polish. i'll pull the engine apart, fix what needs doing and rebuild. It'll be done black a la Z1. It'll be mechanically sound but not to MaineKz exacting cosmetic standards.

I'll post photos of the engine strip/rebuild and Paul can post photos of the cosmetics.

Will be on the blag for parts (took 2 pages of notes today :( ) ......

Frame & other paint bits.

I can see a fair bit of work and money in doing that one, best of luck with it. If you really have to do it in Z1 colours go for the Yellow/Green it's way better and a bit more unusual.

took the head and barrels off. :(

Why do people not put oil down the plug holes when they are storing an engine or at least stick a plug in the hole.

No 4 bore rusted - badly. Now needs a rebore............... Which is a shame as the barrels have obviously never been off. :(

Front camchain blade snapped too - have found most of it - i guess the rest is in the sump. :(

My account with Z power is about to take a hit...........
