Don't know why, as arguably, [and i know i'm going to get flak for this], they are a better bike than the Z1000/Z1R.

MR CHURCHETT, WE ARE GOING TO FALL OUT!!

Paul, i did say "arguably".
Can't understand why they don't fetch more money. Is it that they are undervalued, or that zeds are vastly overvalued?

Hi Phil I think a bit of both, the Z1000A1 is a way better ride than any nine, but under valued and the nine over valued, just my opinion, see you soon

I'd say it's a combination of:

1. The GS not being an 'original' in any respect. Same might reasonably be said of the Zed Thou A1 /A2. OK, they may well be more technically competent than the earlier 900s, but they're really nothing more than a refinement - some might say a dilution - of an 'original'.

2. The GS really does look like a bit of a donkey against the Z1! If desirability ( and therefore value) rest in part on aesthetics and design genius, you have to say the Z1's got the GS beat every which way!

"DONKEY MY ASS" There are plenty of zeds out there that look shit, the trouble with the GS its the unloved kid of the 70's but i think its a bike that will grow in popularity as there is not many standard bikes out compared to zeds. GSTHOU S VRS ZIR SPOT THE DONKEY ALRIGHT

Make that "Z1R vs errrr.... almost anything else - spot the donkey" :D :D

No...no....let's be fair here. The dear old Z1R is definitely better looking that the Yammie XS1100. Even the GS Donkey is better looking than the XS.

davy thomo this is at 2009 all jappa show and shine, this GSS is near mint, ZED 900/1000/Z1R's were out numbered by Katana's and GS's FACT is very few people looked at the GS's. don't know why, I had use of a Red/White GSS in the 80's while my Z1000A1 was been repaired (scrumpie cider and later speedway meetings don't mix- apparently) looking back it was a better bike then Zed 1000, but was very bland, maybe very little chrome and the ZED 900 sales and race track success had some thing to do with it, I don't remember much else (scrumpie cider f###s the brain- apparently).

bottom pic- are part of our regular ride group, FACT is very few people look at the GSS, don't know why? I love the thing, but not enough to buy one.

QUOTE-. The GS really does look like a bit of a donkey against the Z1! If desirability ( and therefore value) rest in part on aesthetics and design genius, you have to say the Z1's got the GS beat every which way!

DONKEY might be a bit to harsh- as I've said before from left to right bottom pic- PRINCESS, PRINCE and THE KING- Hench
