Slapping sort of noise

#1 PostAuthor: mikey » Mon Jun 15, 2009 9:52 pm

No its not piston slap, but when i throttle off sounds like a slapping noise coming from the front of the engine, could the front cam chain guide be broken off, however in saying that when i first got the bike and i rebuilt the engine cam chain guide was broken then but didnt make a noise.

If you can get it to make the noise whilst on the stand, try putting a piece of wood to your ear and touch the other end on the engine and move it around till you can hear where the noise is coming from, it acts like a stethiscope.

mikey, seriously are you sure your chain isnt needing adjusted, it could be lashing up and down on the overrun and noises often come from a completely different direction than you think??

I see your point there dave but i have been all round the bike making sure nothing else is loose or vibrating and cant find nothing, but its not affecting the performance of the bike in fact its running very well at the moment.
