I'm in agreement with MickZ1a.
It doesn't matter if your vehicle is styled like or looks like an old un, police are not thick and they know what is and isn't valid
A neighbour of mine tried it with his 82 Capri, he thought he'd be OK as it had a private plate and they've made them for years.
A local, (young), copper spotted it in the high street and asked him what year it was, he tried the, oooohh 70 something and the reponse was, don't take the piss D***, that's a laser, about 82 or 3, get the plate changed.
He was lucky, we live in a small place and the copper knew him and gave him a friendly warning but he could have been fined and given a producer costing even more to make it legal.
If you want a fine for the sake of having a pretty plate for a week or so go for it, alternatively, get an old classic brit or Harley or something.
If you just want the look for shows get one printed up and attach it with velcro at the show, remove it afterwards.
