[quote="tailiftchris"]Don`t care about the stick.

bunnys suggestion is the same model as the one I got here where A series means mark 2 or E1 shaftie. They`re a lot longer it seems.

looks OK to me TLC, do the job a treat. plus  if you are away on a trip,, on some rough terrain, a long way from main roads and someone you are with has an accident and needs an ambulance [ i hope this never happens mate, of cause], then you could let the emergency services know about your rack and the air ambulance could use it as a landing pad :rir

Thanks Mick, that`s just what I needed.

I`ve welded on one threaded keeper as per STD grab rail and checked for deflection which seems quite severe. Because the original bracket was a lot further back there is a lot of torsional force on a short length of the bar. Obviously if the rack is too long then that will limit the amount of force it will take, that is why I asked the question.

It seems that no one has a Zed rack so I have nothing to compare it with.

Just how many newtons of force will it take ? Even with flitch plates !

What the f**k are you waffling on about TLC..... Its a bleedin' rack for a Zed... :|

You ain't gonna be towing an oil tanker with it..... Even with all your "clubbing gear" on it, the thing should be strong enuff

If I behave, can I be your mate & go to the disco with you.... I don't mind the "mingers", me and Mick will have your cast-off's

F**k sake Piggy.....it`s a genuine question.

If I put the wifes things on it, it`ll end up more like a paddock stand

Image what do you think to that one TLC :?: small compared to yours but i found i could carry 27000 tabs of acid on in without it affecting the handling, mind you, the 4 i'd had that morning affected the handling considerably

The camera was still pissed from the night before

Seriously -    if your welding bits on it, I'd shorten it a bit on the stay to the shock mount to bring it nearer the seat back thus reducing the leverage of anything put on it. What secondary mount are you looking at?

Can`t do any secondary mount other than stock fixings.

Shortening is the answer I reckon....................................

Do you mean it's only fixed at the shock mount?

What about welding some tubes under it to cup over the rear frame under the seat?

Twin spar it and mount it at the shock top but extend them forward to brace under the frame rail to counter lever mount it?

No Rich I`ve put the cative threaded tubes in just fore of the indicator frame mounts as per stock grabrail.

Reckon just keeping the weight off is the trick ?

Trouble is I`ve got to take loads of stuff to Deutschland mid July so need fair capacity.

Reckon I can take 2" off and still have quite an area to load on to.
