battery gone flat, no charging......

#1 PostAuthor: gordon62 » Sat May 02, 2009 4:34 pm

Hi all,
Took my z1000 out today for 1st proper run since buying it month or so ago, anyhow, it went great, did about 70+ miles, got nearly home and it started to splutter, got home, found battery has gone flat, no charging, I havnt tested charging yet, but guess it not, I was abit miff as the battery has gone flat even thought not charging, did"nt have lights on etc, would of thought batt would hold ok? so I guess I have to investigate, not my favourite thing electrics, maybe it be the reg, any ideas on best way to check system?
Andy

seems to be the topic of the week, use a multi meter to check the volts across the battery. at 4000rpm you should have 14.50 vots. Image thats what i used a few days ago, red to + and black to _ on the battery. its a start.

If the battery isn't getting a charge whilst running the bike, even without lights on.... =tThe ignition, indicators & stop light will take enuff out the battery to drop the voltage quite quickly :!:
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

Hi Andy

Unfortunately my a1 is in bits at the moment so I was out with Mrs S and the kid's in the car!
Your a1 definitly looks good. If you need a helping hand let me know as I'm only in Sholing so probably not that far away.
