reg/rec???

Guys, is it the same combined reg/rec for the z1,z1a,z1b? one green block, one earth cable, one single white wire with double connector? Apparently you connect two wires from the rectifier to the double conector, but i have loads of wires coming out of the rectifier, confused :??

Hi Mick,
Just been into me workshop and had a look at mine (Z1A) to make sure.

green block plugs in as normal,

black wire goes to earth on the engine, (small bolt behind kickstart under rear engine mount),

the white double female has one white wire from the fuse and the other white wire is from the generator (male bullit connector)

thanks for doing that Floydsz1, will try again in the morning, so the plastic block connector from the rectifier becomes obsolete i guess?

Thats correct Mick,
The white block connector is not used. Some people cut the wires off the rectifier and plug the connector in so if anyone looks it looks original,

I'm assuming at least one of you may be using the electrex replacement,
i got to get one in the next couple of weeks, are they any good or should i try for an oem part?

Can the rectifier be left plugged in? Will it do any harm? ..

The Combined reg/rectifier (z1 series) can be plugged in either the white or the green connector. Most plug it in the green.

Now. if the rectifier was left in, and connected, it would be receiving the 20 volts odd Ac from the alternator, via the blue plug and would be rectifying it to DC. This would then go the combined unit, which is already receiving the same 20 volts AC ...... this voltage would be also rectify and both sources would be regulated.... so, I would say, no damage!...Too complicated for me!
I would just leave the rectifier disconnected!

Perhaps some electrical wiz coulds handle this.?

at least one of you :ooer personally im using the pmc part from zpower, straight connection :roll: unless you are scared of electrics like me :tick

Same synchronised source voltage so should be fine.

purdy brushes, best in town TLC, wouldnt use anything else :D

Just looking at the Tour Max reg/rectifier 716835----RGU-405 I have purchased for my project Z1B
This has no instructions with it so can anyone help??? it has a white plug with two yellow wires and one black it also has a brown wire with a male bullet and a red and white with a male bullet......Thanks Pauljac...

I just took both the old rectifier and the regulator off and put the new pmc combined unit under the battery box and pluged it in, simple.
