Rev counter needle

Busy with fitting GPZ9 clock guts into a z900 rev counter.How do you get the needle out without resorting to a big hammer! It there a method with spoons or something to lever it out(think I saw that somewhere).I cant close the glass cos the gpz needle is way thicker than a z900 one .A swap over or a trim is needed.I dont want to break it with too much force.Using it now with lots of tape holding it together.Works great but looks pish.

i just built some clocks with white faces from big fluff,to get the needle off you get two tea spoons,and put one either side of the needle and put a little pressure on them,and it just lifts ,have fun.

If you want to put a z900 needle on gpz mechanism (I assume you are converting to electric) check the spindle size before trying to fit the needle on as well.

Thanks for the advice. Tried the spoons but I ain't no Yuri Geller.Seems like waaay to much force required.It seems stuck fast.Tried WD40 and heated it abit but the face started bend with the heat.Aren't old bikes fun.

i had this trouble and knacked a clock up. try and turn the needle if it moves freely then try the spoon method if you are not carefull you can pull the spline out as well this happened to me and i brought another clock because i could not get it back in and gave up good luck
