Hi All
I bought 4 spanking new Cam End Plugs as 2 where weeping slightly on my bike. The exisitnf 4 popped out easy enough, and as expected the new ones would be tight. But before i get out the big hammer is there an easy way to fit?

Hi. Cam cover is indeed off. Doing the shims at the moment. You mention sealer, any particular type/make? I've tried pushing the plugs in but they are incredibly tight and wont push home.

End plugs are slightly larger when new so they compress to a tight fit when the cover is bolted down. Just use any silicone gasket sealer, Doesn't need much, This will also help the end plugs slide home when you refit and tighten the cam cover bolts. You can sometimes get away with just using oil/grease but you risk oil seepage especially around the cam cover gasket area.
About 2 years ago I had problems with cam end plugs not staying put.
I bought new ones and spent hours trying to get them to permanently stay in place.
After wasting many hours messing about with them, I bought the billet type.
This was the end of the problem.
I used ordinary gasket sealant from Halfords but I must admit I never tried the ‘Kawabond’ on standard rubber end caps - maybe this would work better?
The only tip I can give is to make sure every trace of engine lubricant is removed from the surface and only use a light smear of sealant.
If the problem persists I highly recommend the billet ones which not only fit straight away with no messing - but also last indefinitely.

Use RTV silcon loctite 5910(Halfords) let it nearly go off then fit cam cover and tighten in correct order it should not leak then Cheers Pauljac...
