I had the number 2 spark plug causing this kind of problem too. It would misfire at 5k rpm. Changed plug and problem went away!

Steve got dyna s coils on it and brand new leads plug caps and plugs, bigmac put old plugs in and its just the same, however in saying that been out on it today and its been alright, could it be as maralyn suggested to me today bit of crap floating round in the carbs and now and again it floats up and blocks the jets?

Have you dropped the carb bowls and had a look? Is there a kink in one of the fuel lines? One more thing, does it feel like you're running out of fuel when it happens?

Then I would check the fuel chain. Sounds like a restriction, so carbs are looking like the cause? Definitely worth looking in the bowls. If you can take a picture of what you find would be good.

Try opening the petrol cap when it does it to see if it improves, maybe breather blocked.

Now and again i can hear a hissing noise from the fuel cap when i open it it stops almost like there is pressure building in the tank, i just had the fuel cap re chromed but i took it apart to have it done, could i have put it back together wrong and blocked the breather hole.
