I have a spare Zed tacho, which when I ran it up using a cordless drill at full speed (1300rpm drill speed) gave a reading of 6750rpm on the clock. When I did the same thing on the tacko fitted to the bike I got a reading of 7000rpm!!!
GB i was going to go blatthering on about gear ratios of the worm drive to cam helical gear and the possibility of cams not turning at full engine RPM but then realised that as usual i dont know what i'm on about.
So on a lighter note; it wasnt on hammer was it????

Sprocket from Debben will take four weeks, so I have instead ordered a 19t 5/8 offset 530 pitch sprocket from Talon, ordered one for Zed1015 at the same time. They cost £45+VAT+delivery, works out at £56.35 delivered to my door
Downside is 4-6 week delivery time, but I hope to be able to run something like a 41t rear sprocket, that will help lift my chain clear of the swinging arm. I plan to get that lot fitted & see where we are before I start cutting into swinging arms.
Sadly looks like this won't make it to the ACE. Might try & cobble the 'Snotter' together, or worst case scenario, I'll take me ZX9R. Either way, I will be there on a Kawasaki

Update,
After spending a busy couple of week's getting my 'Snotter' ready for the Ace, I find myself with some time to spend on this little beastie........ At long last!
I picked up a new clutch when I visited Debben. I removed the old one tonight. The plates are well within tolerence, but I will fit the new stuff anyway.
I also measured the springs, which are just within tolerence, but since it's apart I will order a new set from Debben.... In fact just spoke to the wife to be who happens to be passing Ringwood tomorrow...... I love it when a plan comes together
Interestingly, Haynes give you a 'free' spring length, where as Clymer say the Z1000 spring should be measured under pressure, but give a 'free' length for the Z900.

All sprockets fitted & I have managed to raise the ride height a fair bit, but not as much as I would like.
So plan 'B' came into operation this afternoon! I had already sourced another swinging arm, bargain at £15.00
I marked it all up, then got me grinder out
I cut a piece of aluminium angle to fill the hole, just need to find someone to weld it all together now.

Dropped my swinger off to be welded this morning at Bowden Classic Motorcycle Engineering, Bristol 0117 9693355. They reckon it will be turned round in under a week at a cost of around £45.00....... I'm happy with that
I used these guy's a couple of weeks ago to remove a broken stud from my replacement 'snotter' head... £25.00 & turned around in 2 days.
Once the swinger is welded it will be straight to Mikey for some 'Mikey Magic' (another master of the quick turnaround), then I can fit it & hopefully get the arse of my bike where I want it.
