#1 PostAuthor: mick znone » Sat Mar 28, 2009 4:04 pm

just taken the alt cover off my bike, there are 3 allen key bolts holding the stator assy on, cant shift the b;ggers, ive got some gas oil on at the moment, will try again tomorrow, is it just a case of undoing these 3 bolts, then the assy comes out no problem :?: need to remove as Mikey is polishing it in a couple of days. anybody please :??

fill it with newspaper, mask it off and tell him not to polish the inside. If that fails a new allen key and warm the outer casing gently.

Mick, just make sure they are not rounded as you want the tightest allen key in there.

Mikey, I haven't either, I wouldn't even bother taking it out just pull the grommet out and mask it up so no crap gets in there

Ive done countless alternator cases and never got crap in em its how you hold em to the spindle that counts and besides if the backs masked how you gonna lime it off with out touching it.

You're the expert Mikey. So is it worth Mick risking snapping one of the bolts to take it out?

At the begining of this thread i said to mick dont worry about removing the stator as its not a problem done countless alternator covers with the stators in but if he wants to mask it off fine mask it off i realy do get fed up with people (not having a go at you) preaching to me about polishing if people dont want to listen to my advice then dont, take it somewhere else.
