Just polished a Z900 engine sprocket cover for one of vduk's (ralph) customers, (dont know if its a A B or A4 or what have you) but noticed the clutch release mechanism was a lot smoother than mine and looked like it ran in a nylon bush of sorts would one of these fit my Z1000A2 sprocket cover if so anyone got one spare as know matter what i do with my clutch its still extremely stiff.

There are nylon ones and metal ball bearing types which are better as long as they're in reasonable nick.

When i first got my Z steve the mechanism was siezed and the cage was bent i unsiezed it and straightened the cage as best i could but its never been a smooth clutch and i think only way is to replace it.

I have a metal one with bearing you can have Mikey. Needs a clean but seems nice and smooth.

Mikey if the cage was bent you'd struggle to straighten it correctly for a smooth running bearing, so a replacement would be better, the bearing type are well better when they're in good nick. There was obviously something else seized in the first place to cause it to bend.

Yes steve the whole thing was siezed and must have bent 1st time i pulled in the clutch when i very first got it.

It's a Z1A and don't you go nicking his clutch - he might notice :wink:

Just out of interest, what is the correct routing for the clutch cable, particularly around the headstock?

I've always suspected that my cable is not fitted correctly as the outer sheath has been pinched in the steering stops. Maybe a good idea to replace it before it fails on a run. Anyone got any photo's?

Not a stiff one anymore seems it was the clutch release mechanism, fitted the one padders sent me today and its much easier thanks ian owe you a pint at yorkie, oh no you said a cup of tea and a biccy, better watch out for pigford though ian.
