Right then,

I think I have decided where I'm going with this. It is gonna get the full treatment :save :save so we can say goodbye to saving :!:
Now I have my monster pile of spares, I have decided to restore this bike to pretty much standard, with some very subtle differences. Initially I am planning to fit another set of bodywork, including the fairing.
I have booked it for an MOT on the 16th April, so all being well I will be on this at the ACE. I hope to run around on this during the summer to identify any faults, then strip it during the winter for a full refurb.
I now have several sets of calipers & plan to service a good set, fit with new pads, then decide on the braking capabilities. If it's still sh*te, then I may consider fitting ZZR1100 running gear, as the forks & swinging arm are not disimilar.
Here is some of the body work I plan to fit for the summer, which scrubbed up pretty well, sorry no pic's yet.

Sadly the inside of the tank will need some attention. I have ordered my Flowliner kit today!
Image
This is some of the rust I hoovered out of the tank....... Urrgh
Image
I had wondered if this lot had ever passed through Piggy's hands, as a lot of it came in biscuit tin's :!:

Been quite busy 'Pimping' (as the wife to be would say! :wub ) over the last few days. First thing was to remove the 'twin' headlights & remove copious amounts of masking tape. That exposed the work of one of the 12 previous owners!
Image
I can only describe it as the 'Loom of Doom'. Some fecker has cut of all the block connectors & replaced them with these blue Micky Mouse connectors, half of which fell off on thier own accord :grr
I have replaced some of these as a temporary repair, as I plan to fit a new loom, from my spares stash during the winter rebuild.
Image
I have worked out why the brake's are so sh*te.............. There is next to no disc left. :ek
Fortunately, I have found an almost new set on one of my 'other' bikes, mileage shows 58k, so they must have recently been replaced. :D :D
Image
Picture shows one still attached to the wheel, this one is rusty, the other was covered in oil (an attempt to move the bike with seized brakes I think), anyhow, both have been through the parts washer & once dried will get a little tickle in me bead blasting cabinet.
Here is a pair of wheel's I have scrubbed up, the camera does lie!
Image
I plan to get the tyres removed tomorrow, then I can blast the rims & repaint, probably get Mikey to do a bit of his magic too. Normally I would send these of to be powdercoated, but I need a quick fix for the ACE, I'll probably use these on the other GPz I put together from the bits left over.
Last pic is of my bodywork, which is pretty good. I will fit this for the Ace/summer then prob have another set repainted as new & keep this set fot the No.2 bike.

It's a miracle!
Image
I had thought this tank might be beyond reclamation, but how wrong was I? This is the result after a 48 hours soak in bio-rust....... Fantastic
I have rinsed with copious amounts of clean water, mopped out what I can, then had the heat gun (paint stripper) in it, & left it cuddled up to a HOT radiator for the night. Once I'm convinced it's bone dry, I'll tip in the sealer. With a bit of luck It'll be tomorrow.
Image
Had a quick word with Mikey earlier & have arranged to drop me rims of tomorrow for a bit of 'Mikey Magic', here they are stripped & blasted.
Image
I love jobs/parts at this stage, all the hard work/preparation is done, just the nice painting/masking to do............. Let's hope I don't feck it up :sad

Okay then, bit of an update.
Had a nice pile of goodies from the Postie last Thursday..... almost as good as Christmas!
Image

Rims came back from Mikey........ Soooper shiney :D :D
Image
Here they are all masked & ready for a bit of paint. If they come out half as good as the masking efforts I will be well happy. I must have spent the best part of four hours degreasing & masking these!!!!
Image
Here they are with a couple of coats of etch primer, which was literally a last minute buy before the 'man' shops (as the other half calls 'em) close for four days for easter :(
Image
You can just see the snotter in the background wearing some of it's new clothes....................................... More pictures of it soon!
I have also rebuilt a set of front calipers & made up a new set of braided brake lines for the front end.
Tyres are on order from M&P but they will not have them in stock till tues, hope to get them on wed........ Mot is on thurs :?? . I could MOT it with the existing wheels & tyres if need be, but I will need to swap disc's around, so it would be easier if I had the wheels/tyres done in time.
Time to finish, I think the paint fumes/Stella/no food combo is starting to kick in!!
