Piston ring compressor

How you do it without Piston ring compressor Tool no. 57001-112 when you put your cylinder back to the base? Have you all gays a own Piston ring compressor by Kawasaki?

Kari, with respect... your question/ comment is a little hard to understand.
1. Are you asking for a loan of a piston ring compressor?
2. Are you asking, how do we put rings in to a set of barrels without a ring compressor?
3. Are you asking if we all have ring compressors?
4. Are you asking how we use the ring compressor?

I find them only good on 900 pistons, .005 mm over or .010 mm over.
Hard to use on 1000 pistons.
Hope this helps you on the way, once question is clarified.

I have bought a new piston set to my bike. It's 70mm pistons (1000cc)
I wonder how to put rings to a set of barrels without a ring compressor?
Or if any know where I can buy or loan a ring compressor for this 1000cc engine.

Kari, if you are putting 1000 (70mm) pistons in a set of 1015 barrels, it is easy, as there is sufficient chamfer to allow the rings to enter the cylinders with ease.
If you are fitting 1000 pistons to a set of 903 barrels that have been bore out, it is difficult, as there is usually no room for a chamfer to allow the rings to enter the cylinder. In this case you need 4 hands (a mate to help!).

I put the centre two pistons in the barrels first and the outer ones after. Don't forget the bottom gasket, the o-rings and the dowels Also required is a clever set of hands and fingernails.

Plastic bottle worked a treat...... :wink:

but if you're unsure, get some help.... Go slow, take your time & good luck :P

Pigford, sorry I didn't read far enough into your thread that Ginger Bear suggested.
I agree, the plastic bottle method is probably the way to go when you have un-chamfered barrels. Although, those extra hands sure help in keeping the pistons aligned and stop them locking to one side.

I must admit, talking of ring compressors. I thought Kawasaki only made the one type for approx the 66 mm pistons. Perhaps, I'm wrong and they do make another for 70-72 mm pistons.
