Pilot Jet blocked?
I've got a lovely little pilot jet in my hand - but no clear view through the shaft.. Trying to clean it and blow it out but boy is it jammed thick with crud. Am I supposed to see daylight through it, or are there hidden bends best left well alone.
thanks...
thanks...
The crud that collects in carbs is tough indeed. I rebuilt mine using Keyster carb kits. Those bits that weren`t included I carefully cleaned and cleared any passages with a cocktail stick !
I also put the whole carburettor bodies through a dishwasher.
Caveat. Dishwashers use salt, so be sure to rescue the bodies immediately the cycle has run and dry thoroughly. Also dowse in WD40 to clean afterwards.

carbs
Tried to get mine to even fire up today to go for a spin, but no chance. I turned her over 2 weeks ago, a little rough but all 4 pots were working.
Plugs are sparking nicely so suspected carb/ fuel. Drained the carbs, put fresh fuel in but nothing. Fuel is getting into the bowls but it seems fuel/ air mix is not getting to the cylinders so I have to suspect the jets are blocked.
If I get a sonic cleaner jobber, can I use it to clean the pilot, main and needle jets/ air bleed pipe, or do you recommend new ones?
Best place for gaskets/ jets is Allens Performance as Pigford suggests?

Yes, you can use the ultrasonic cleaner for that thread here
