Keys

#1 PostAuthor: Sorf » Mon Jan 08, 2007 1:29 am

G'day all,
So, where can you get a blank key that at least looks a bit like a genuine key? I know the newies don't have the motif on them, but would at least like to keep the head shape right. Need a Z900 key #751 type.
Begging your pardon sir, but you did say that you'd like .................a green one?

You used to be able to get the keys as genuine spares, try then usual sources. Alternatively get the keys you want and alter the lock tumblers to suit.

Doremi in Japan make copies, for around 3500yen each. They have 751 to 755 in cut or uncut blanks, yes they have the coat of arms on the plastic head. I bought a replacment steering lock some time back and the keys come without the emblem and were different numbers from original Zeds, I thnk they were 756 or something like that.

Thanks gbh (George?)
I bought a supposed NOS steering lock some time ago #751, but it came with plain keys. Bloody keys have only been on the ring, and done maybe 2000km and the plastic has all broken off one side of the loose key's head. :( Seems to be 'orribly brittle.
have asked at Bike Bandit re: replacement keys as they list, but they can't tell me whether or not the motif would be on them. and for US45.00, I think I'd like to have it.
If I can get one from Doremi i will go that way. will give you a PM on this if that's OK.

I'll look into getting some pics to you of the repro compared with a genuine NOS key. The repro is as close to identical as can be. I can tell you the bike bandit key will not have the emblem.....unless it is NOS. The new steering lock I bought from a Kawasaki dealer here is Japan has the plain plastic head, I'm not complaining it was still good value for the price.
PM me your email address and I'll send some pics early next week if not sooner.
