As Phil has said some chromers don't like doing them, mine doesn't, i've seen a couple that were absolute crap, I suppose it depends on how pitted they are in the first place, the last ones I saw looked pretty good at first but when you looked closer you could see the difference around the stamping where the polishing was lighter so as not to lose the stamping therefore they were shit. I was mulling over whether or not to do mine recently and eventually decided that new was best and safest, I went for D.I.D. from Z1 Enterprises they still worked out cheaper than buying them here.

wheel rims
Mick,
Had a rim rechromed by Steve Smethhurst (who does this work for RWHS) first class job! Think you can still get TAKASAGO rims from Dave Silvers Spares, I think the the CB750 rim is the same size as the Z900 but it will probably have the stamping on the edge rather than inside. Also if it's a rear wheel you would need to drill the holes for the tyre retainers, this of couse leaves an unchromed edge. I think it all depends on how original you want to keep your Zed! If you want it totally original I think the only option is to rechrome a good original rim!

hi mick
Mick , its Gerry, I met you in Cornwall when you bought the bike from Tony. I have details of a fantastic chromer who willl do your wheels to show standard and wont polish the stampings out of the rims. Turn around is about 5 weeks. Marque restore are ok but can take a lifetime to turn stuff around. The company you could try is Silvabronz on 01420 80880. They had a stand at the last classic show at the NEC and there stuff looked as good as I have seen and the owner actually knew what he was talking about.

WHEEL RIM WISE, got to decide what to do, front rim original and pretty good chrome, so will keep, rear rim pitted and after market,£90 plus vat to rechrome rim, so will replace. problem with the world today is TO MANY CHOICES, if,when, why ,what, how much have you got, sorry ive gone again.
