South West Rally 2009 31st July - 2nd August

#1 PostAuthor: RALPHARAMA » Sat Jan 03, 2009 1:44 pm

Hi South West Zedists

Sadly The Canal Inn is no longer being run by Sandi and Nigel as CB has mentioned.

I have been given the heads up about a similar boozer near Somerton. I have made an initial phone call to the landlord who seems pro biker. He has hosted owners club rallies before so there is no issue there. There is a skittle alley, paddock for camping and huge car park so it all sounds promising.

I gave the FJ a quick swill to get the salt off just now and the drive is like a skating rink, so we'll not be making our first recce today :(

I am looking to have the rally in July this year. Again it will start on the Friday and continue through to Sunday with camping and there are a number of B&Bs locally.

How about 10th-12th July? If this is impractical with the venue or if this clashes with anything lots of you guys have already planned to attend please let me know ASAP.

Sandi and Nigel did keep the banners!!!! and I suspect might well come and join us; they will certainly be invited :D

Don`t know if I`ll be able to get two weekends away in July if the Germany Rally happens.

If not I`ll be along.

Can you let Natalie and Gail know :D

It's neither - it's the Castlebrook Inn, Compton Dundon between Street and Somerton. If you're going for a rekky can I come now that I have a proper big girl's bike? :D

OK. All points taken and noted.

I don't want to do June as it is too close to the Yorx rally which many of us Southerners like to attend to do missionary work - we always fail and get corrupted, but it's fun trying

May I suggest that we have our rally Friday 14th > Sunday 16th August 2008 . I will obviously have to check this with the venue, but there is no point if it clashes with something major in the Zed World :D

Please let me know ASAP. If that's OK I'll go and talk to the landlord and as you guyz are clearly gagging for a meet up I'll organise a meeting there ASAP :D

Ralph . . . stick with July dates as they will be fine with most of us ..... as there is always too much going on in August - with holidays & other Bike things like the Scots Rally :D
