side panels are right for an A4 - colour is wrong though.
A4s are either green pinstripe or brown

Someone else discussed those two bikes a few weeks back (were they in Halifax or somewhere round there ??). Personally I think they are both over priced and if you're looking for something as near to original as you can get I would give them a wide berth.

If your anything like me when it comes to buying bikes, which I hope your not. I fookin useless, I always set off with the right mind set if its shite walk away and leave it, if the seller won't shift on price but by the time Ive seen the bike and convinced myself with a wee bit work and a couple of parts its a bargain, Ive handed over me cash and off home with something Ive probably paid too much for.

I paid 'too much' for my Triumph..... or did I? I paid £3K for an 8 year old bike with under 8K on the clock.
The real answer is that I paid what it was worth to me and I have never regretted the purchase
Forget all on here ... look at the bike. Providing that you have the technical expertise to spot a lemon when you see one, if you like the bike and it will give you three grands worth of pleasure buy it, if not keep on looking. It looks like a clean bike from the pic. Personally I think four pipes are crap and rot out, which is why you only see bike with four pipes now on bikes restored to showroom condition. In the heyday of the Zed, everyone ripped them off for the 4 into 1s which sounded better, looked better, gave better power and usually even lasted better!
I'm bound to get plenty of abuse for the previous paragraph, but what is more original? a bike as it left the factory or a bike that had the mods most commonly added at the time eg koni/marazochi shox an 'arris/laser/alpha 4 into 1 and 2:4 seat? For my money the latter

The guy obviously doesn't have the expertise that's why he asked for the advice in the first place, he has been given some good advice and had some relevant items to consider pointed out to him, so the only post he should forget is yours.
PS. I think as Dave has said those two bikes are from a company based in Halifax whose name eludes me, but one of our members Shreky? I think had some major trouble with them so maybe they should be avoided regardless of how good or not their bikes are.
Andy I would suggest you take time and research the various models better this would help you to spot any faults / non standard parts on any machine you may purchase. As a general rule assuming mechanical / cosmetic condition to be equal the bikes go up in price starting with the Z1, then the Z1A Z1B next and finaly the A4.
I think the bike in the photo requires a lot of work / money to get it back to a good standard as has been pointed out by other members .Have you thought about a Z1000 they are normaly a little cheaper or must you have a bike with those famous 4 pipes

One further point as the year goes on prices may fall as the credit crunch bites so take your time don't rush in and watch the for sale section plenty of very good bikes come up for sale through the club and the seller is likley to know a little of the bikes history.
