Santa Pod NSA Sprint this weekend!!
Hello all,
I know Steve mentioned this earlier in 'riders/racers wanted' but this is just a reminder, as the weather forecast is actually looking pretty good, who is actually going? Anyone going for the Sat night racing as well? Pigford have you managed to get a pass out from `er indoors?
It should be a really great weekend with lots of unusual bikes, classic sprint bikes from yesteryear and a few Zeds too with a bit of luck.
I`ll probably just be going on the Sunday, so hopefully see you there!

I was standing right next to her but filming down the track when this happened.
It resulted in a short visit to the ambulance and the bike will have to be repaired too after they both collided with the christmas tree and central divider.
I really hope that she is OK.
Can you let us know if she is alright, it looked very very painful indeed as the bike landed partly on top of her.

Cheers Zorded, excellent pics and vids as ever, shame i didn`t get to do more than 2 runs before my ignition decided to die. 1st run air shifter didn`t work after 3rd gear, so stayed in 3rd for half the track and did a 10.6 at 120mph crossing the line at around 10,500 - 11,000 in 3rd! (time and speed told to me by spectator - so could be wrong!). 2nd run i totally bogged down on the line, caught out (like many others) by the extra grippyness of the track.
Sorry i didn't get to chat to you Steve or even race alongside which would have been nice, i think we were opposite sides of the pit, hopefully next year i'm sure. There were some pretty interesting bikes there to say the least, including some later model Zeds, and although very cold and windy was still a good day, and it all ended in a great sunset!
Oh and thanks Zorded for all your help throughout the year with the bike and the filming too, i now appreciate how long it takes to download all these vids and making sure the timing of them is just right too, top work squire! And also to Debbens for being top Zed specialists, whose years of experience we benefit from and without whom many of us would be left in the dark, thanks Ray and Steve!

Hello Zorded, yes she is fine apart from an injured shoulder, and keen to go back for another go to but next time to a track with a properly prepared surface. (one that can handle 35bhp). Thank you Andy, yes is a shame we didnt get to race, were on earth where you getting grip
it was about as grippy as an ice rink after a diesel spill, I have never experienced such wheelspin before, even riding on wet roads. I did hear that some of the older (and wiser) riders where using the edge of the un used track, I didnt even think to try this
best time was 10.3 but wheelspinning wildly until changing from 2nd to 3rd gear, Other riders where managing to get better times so perhaps it was just my over aggressive riding style. Yes roll on warmer weather, proper track preperation and Pigford, Andy AND A FEW OTHERS out mixing it up on the track next year. Steve


Glad to hear she's OK and it hasnt put her off, it did look bloody painful. The day was punctuated with general carnage. Two motors blew and a couple of people fell off. One old guy fell off at the end which was a mystery to everyone.
People were changing lanes, aborting after good starts, veering off at angles, throwing exhausts pipes down the track, having tyres disintegrate, stopping on the track at half distance and hitting the concrete barriers at the sides after the finish line.
It was a comedy of errors and all the while, bikes were standing with engines and tyres getting either too hot or too cold. Dont know what the answer is.
It's not as if it was caused by brit iron which keeps its' oil on the outside of the engine either. Everyone was effected. Have to put it down to end of season and general decay.
The bike which threw its silencer off, looked culpable. You could see that it had just been stuck on with a couple of fresh tins of exhaust putty, probably that day. Lucky it didnt hit someone or go through his spokes.
You are correct in saying that the wise heads used the outside of the track but only a few people suffered with grip issues on the line. Steve you were one and Rebecca another. Only the right hand lane seemed to give these problems. Read on;
There has to be some blame on the part of the guy who was constantly flooding the burn-out area with a running hose pipe and for those people who didnt do a burn out (warm and dry their tyres) they would have been standing in a puddle of cold water of their own making on the line. The results we have seen testify to this.
They probably should have had the jet engine 'track dryer' out at half time instead of just constantly spreading the wet stuff up and down with the Massey Ferguson towing a bit of soggy carpet!!!!
Steve you weren't the only one with track grip issues either.
Guy parked next to us, i was talking to at the end had an immaculate and beautiful ZZR 1400 (grey) which you may have seen. He was complaining about constantly hitting the rev limiter by mistake and i suggested that he had been spinning the wheel up. The look of recognition and then fear was tangible.
I understand that he and or his son race very successfully in the brain-out classes in USA!!!!!!! Bet he wasnt expecting ice racing in The UK.
The story i got from Mark (nitrous Z) and Barry (Turbo Z) about Saturday night was similar.
Racing started at 5 p.m. ish and was supposed to go on till 9.
An hours delay for an engine detonation saw most people racing in darkness!
OK you might think as i did, sounds pretty exciting. However the spot lights run out at the finish line so Mark and Barry as others, were going through the line at 140 -150 MPH into total darkness!!!!
Mark said this was especially exciting for him as he rides with a very dark tinted visor.
Good job deer, cows, birds and rabbits don't like loud noises.
