The wiseco 1075 kit comes with a copper head gasket.
What does anyone use to fill the groove for the o ring on the barrells?
Do you use any sealant on the gasket itself?

Steve, I don't know what Hillbilly means by "piano-wired". I presume it's where circular grooves are machined around the liners and have wire fitted in them. I have seen something similar on 1300 cc blocks.
If that is the process, then I would hardly think it would be necessary on such a relatively low increase in capacity (1075) unless it is for drag racing or racing in general. I think the groves around the cam chain tunnel are usually siliconed and cut flat witrh a blade. The copper gasket is then torqued down without any added gasket cement/ goo/ sealant.

When using a one piece copper gasket make sure you retorqe the head after a short break in period. Also here is a good tip that helps prevent leaks

Ok This is me being stupid and panicing after reading a thread on the KZ rider website,
I actually have a fibre gasket apparently the copper gasket is for drag racing( so you can reuse it), and you do need to piano wire or o ring the barrells which means cutting a groove and putting some wire in it for the copper gasket to crush down on.
wiseco say I do not need to fill the O ring groove but others say run some silicone in it so I think i will do that..

I am back from the Pod, Hello Pasc, Steve R, yes do away with that good for oil leaks expensive O ring and fit the 1 peice Cometic CFM20 head gasket instead, better gasket, less chance of the cam tunnel weap at the front of the block and save yourself money
fill the groove with a high temp rtv sealant like the Loctite / Permatex Ultra Copper.

Revisiting an old thread. Have the 1075 kit in my bike, there were leaks from around the head. I have the copper gasket (72mm) and as you can see there was blow out on No.3, or it appears that way.
I hear of this thing where the cylinder should be piano wired, I've never seen this and from what I can tell mine hasn't had this done.

Now the old girl wont be going down the strip and it doesn't seem excessive upsizing so I was thinking of going the one piece fibre gasket & filling in the O Ring groove.

Your barrels have NOT been wired
Copper needs to be annealed before reusing,,, heat to cherry red & let it cool.
With the copper gasket sealant should be used (2 x different types) to:
A: Seal the copper gasket to the mating surfaces (head & barrels)
B: RTV hi-temp (or similar) sealant in the big O-ring (cam tunnel) groove
Personally I'd get a Cometic fibre/metal gasket and ditch the copper thing.

Nicomkii - This is piano wiring (on my turbo engine).
Obviously the pistons should be intact

Thanks for that Mark, I agree and will be going the fibre gasket. Thats a good indication on my gasket when you use a copper one without piano wiring, esp on No.3.
