OOOOh what a hot potato.

Crispy - No one with half an ounce of compassion would not sympathise with your personal position ... but I can assure you that Geoff is a complete gentleman who is always willing to give of his best. I am astonished that you would consider his venting of frustration to be aimed at at you. I am sure that it wasn't.

There are, I believe, around eight hundred members of this club nationwide, which would suggest that there must be at least 80 in Geoff's catchment area?

My heart has gone out to Geoff every time he has made the effort to put on a meeting and very few have supported it, on a few occasions he has been alone. Geoff's not one of the world's takers and has made the effort to take on the job after being promised support and has received very little.

Had I had no takers to my first meeting there certainly wouldn't be a second! Geoff waan't venting his frustration at people like Crsipy, who had a genuine reason not to attend, but those who want to be in the club, but can't be arsed to support those who put some effort in.

How often does Chris get mentioned for the huge amount of effort he puts into running this forum and the magazine? People are only to quick to complain if they don't like the content of the magazine etc This club is held together by it's membership, NO ONE TAKES A WAGE. If the members don't support those who believe in it and go that extra mile, then you won't have a club with all the benefits that come with it.

Muddy Chris - I don't know what your beef is, but the bottom line is: If you think ride outs are a better idea, and you may be right, then talk to Geoff about it; if you think Geoff is crap, why didn't you put yourself up for area rep - I suspect that Geoff would be very happy to pass the mantle over to you as you clearly consider that you can do better.

I really don't want to upset anyone, but as a new area rep myself I can easily appreciate how Geoff is feeling. He's doing the job for the same reason I am - cos he is inspired by the club and wants to help it. Can you imagine the humiliation of organising meetings, that people say they want and then having no one turn up? Before you start lobbing rocks at him just put yourself in his position. If you keep him as your rep you'll be very lucky. I certainly wouldn't hang around for more abuse!

I've been luckier, not better!!

The only beef that i have is being called a Tosser. I have mentioned to Geoff about doing a couple of rideouts, maybe up to Skegness or down to Southend but nothing came of it

Other than being called a tosser i do truly believe that Geoff has been doing a fantastic job as area rep. I admire the amount of time and effort that he has put into the job and he should be applauded.

I do hope that he does'nt step down as it would be a great loss to the local Zed community. His drive and enthusiasm would be greatly missed. As for me doing a better job of it, i would struggle, so no i do not want the job. The time and effort that Geoff has put in are considerable and i don`t have enough of either. Nor to be honest the skills required.

All i want to do is ride and enjoy my bikes with like minded people. Is that such a bad thing?

I have sent Geoff a pm so lets put this name calling to bed and start afresh

Cheers

Chris

Great move Chris, well done for that post.
Lets get back to matters in hand instead of civil war amongst ourselves.
I can/could see all points by everyone that were made, but felt sorry for Geoff after his efforts for the area.
Come on Geoff, stick at it matey!

We are all aware that Geoff's a top bloke with all the enthusiasm in the world , there is no doubt he is the best man for the job . Please keep at it Geoff , just perhaps mellow a touch and realise that everyone is perhaps not as committed as you.

Geoff , lets get sorted for a get together in October, I might even buy you a mug of tea and a bacon roll if you fancy a trip to Barton Mills!!

All the best

Well put Zince,
I have been down this year to a Norfolk meet even though it's not in my area, I thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone who was there, but Geoff, dont take it so personal when folks dont turn up, I understand it must be disappointing when the turnout is low, but on the otherhand I can understand the other members views when other things take priority.
It would be nice if everyone takes a step back and get "Old Farts on Zeds, Norfolk Branch" back together again !!!!!

Been there done that . The trouble with meetings is you just hang around and get pissed off . I only organise things that I will enjoy even if nobody turns up . Meet up and go for a run and cookies , doesn't get much better .

I would have been there but was actually in Kent for the triples southern rally. I thought that maybe would get back in time but did'nt.

Geoff I agree with some of your comments, but like most disagree with being called a tosser !!.

Right ... Now I have had a week to calm down ....
If by any chance anyone took my Rant about the Area Meets the wrong way ....

Then Please accept my Apologies ...

It was never aimed at anyone in particular ...

I know we all have other commitments so I can only go with the flow ...
If I had more feedback about time & places .. then I would be the first to listen ... and arranged around everyone

Hopefully if the weather is kinder to us next year then I will arrange ride outs & trips to meet up with other area Reps

But you all have to accept it will be very hard if I don't have the support from the Local Members

As the area covered by us is so large .... I don't see it feasible to hold a midweek meeting ... so obviously it will have to remain a weekend affair

As has been mentioned ... if other members wish to organise a run out or a meet up .. then please go ahead ... this is what this club is all about
I am just an Area Rep .. but I will support anything that another member wishes to organise

I have only been doing this job for a few months .. so please bare with me ... I will continue to try my best for the sake of the Club ... but I do need help & support sometimes

So once again ... if I have upset any members ... I am sorry

PS ... if anyone is going on the 12th Oct ... I will not be there due to my local football team ( I am on the committee so have to show my face ) are in a Cup match
But if you are going to the White Horse then do mention my name to the Landlord " Barry " and you will recieve the normal discount on the food

Muddy ... me old mate ..... welcome back from what :?:

See ... it did take a rant to wake some people up :D

Like I've said .. I will be unable to attend the October Meet ... so if you would be kind enough to hold the fort for me ... It would be most appreciated ... and I will replenish your Glass next time I see you ... even if I have to come over to the Bell & Hare.....

Don't forget you have got to show me how to post Pix on the site ... so see you round mine soon
