restoring

#1 PostAuthor: gunner814 » Mon Sep 08, 2008 2:13 pm

Have owned my z1000h1 since 1996.although it has been off the road since 1998 when the ic ignitor gave up the ghost. have got myself in a position where I can start trying to repair/restore it back to a running bike. not trying for factory condition just to get it running and hopefully through an MOT. has anyone out there got any pointers/advice that might proove usefull

many thanks in advance

Adam

The 1000H is a rarity, although there are three or four that post on here fairly regularly, that own them.
Have a search through the forum.
Good luck with getting it up and running.
Four pipes rule, anything else is second best.

the FI needs a signal from the igniter so presumably you've got a replacement for that lined up.

I had the same problem with the one I had years ago. Replaced the igniter and it all ran great. It is the same as for all the other Mk2 based square cam engines I think so that gives you a bigger pool of spares if you're looking secondhand.

try for a genuine manual or the cylmer manual does have a section of the FI system and some basic checks. Having said that if the control box has a problem their only recommendation is replace it - something that'd be very difficult to do now !

it may be some of the later GPz stuff fits. Someone who knows will be along shortly............

best of luck................
