Muscle Bike Show
Hi there, a few of you will know of me from my scribblings in Streetfighters magazine, and here's a quick post about something I'm planning to sort this year...
I?m thinking of organising a show specifically for muscle bikes. Due to manpower restrictions I was thinking along the lines of a ride-in show - maybe on the back of another event, or maybe a one-off, stand-alone event - and thought that I?d test the water by finding out which owners? clubs would be interested in attending and / or helping out with organisation.
My initial thought was to run it in a similar way to how we did the GSX-R Day in 2006, by running it on the back of an established event and getting the members of a club to help out with getting bikes lined up in the show, just like Old Skool Suzuki did with GSX-R Day. Naturally, just like OSS did at the Gixer day, they can have a club stand at the venue too. We ran the GSX-R Day at Santa Pod, on the back of the Extreme Performance Bike weekend, and I do feel that that particular weekend (this year on the 13th and 14th of September - www.extremebike.co.uk) would also be appropriate for muscle bikes, given the horsepower-orientated nature of Santa Pod (it?s the only all-bike meeting at the Pod, with the ACU and Straightliners drag race series running side-by-side, and there?s going to be a stunt competition there this year too). Of course, this does mean that there will be an entry fee to the event, although I?m sure we could negotiate a few free entries for those folk who may be helping out or running club stands. On the positive side, Santa Pod has camping, a bar and catering, all on site, so people can make a full weekend of it.
The alternative, of a one day, ride-in show, would give no entry costs, but by its very nature, would be one day only, which may deter people from travelling. We do have a couple of options for venues for a single dayer (Lynn?s Raven Caf? at Prees, Whitchurch, Shropshire for one), but if there were a large number of clubs attending it may become a bit tight for space?
Given that the plans are for a true muscle bike meeting, I?m hoping for a response from CBX, Zed, Katana, V-Max, Eliminator, Oldskool Suzuki, GSX14, ZRX and XJR owners? clubs, and hoping to encompass all muscle bikes from the big Jap bruisers of the early Eighties through to their modern equivalents?
I?d appreciate your thoughts on the above, and if you have any contacts for any of the aforementioned owners? clubs, I?d be very grateful if you could either pass the info above on to them, or pass their contact details back to me or, even better, both!
Cheers,
Dave

At last!
Finally, some news regarding the Muscle Bike Show!
It'll be at the Extreme Performance Bike weekend (the 13th and 14th of September - www.extremebike.co.uk) with the show being at midday on the Saturday.
Also, if the club are interested, there is also the opportunity for an Z1 Owners Club stand, at no cost! Bear in mind that Santa Pod's policy is normally that everbody pays, whether trader, club stand or punter, but I've managed to wangle a few free tickets for anyone who's involved with a club stand. Only a few mind!
If the club is interested in having a stand, please feel free to drop me a PM or an email at dave.manning@oceanmedia.co.uk
Thanks, and see you there!

Bollocks...
I'm on holiday touring Ireland and don't get back until the Sunday morning, though I will do my best to get there if I get back early enough.
I'll still help out where I can though... I'll speak to Dave later today and see what we need to do next. I'll post more info later.

Bugger, the 13th is the same day as the Brighton Speed Trials, i`ll be there if i don`t get a place at Brighton. Could always try and make the Sunday but i`m usually too knackered after pushing the bloody bike the half mile from the pits to the start line at Brighton. I could always cut back on the cakes i suppose, yeah right! Now where`s me cakes gone?......

UPDATE
Right, just got off the blower from Dave (MDM).
Basically there's a free pitch for the stand and probably upto 6 free weekend tickets for whoever can represent and run the stand on the Saturday. As stated previously, I'm in Ireland until Sunday so can't oblige as club rep, but anyone who can please let me know names and how may and I can get the places booked. Tickets will be sent to you nearer the time.
The 'Muscle Bike Show' itself is on the Saturday only.
Other representing clubs that'll be there are GSX14, OldSkoolSuzuki, XJR, Katana, hopefully V-Max and a couple of others.
Standard entrance fee is £10 either day or £15 for both days.
