exhaust down-pipes paint

#1 PostAuthor: eastlondon » Sat Aug 16, 2008 1:00 pm

Can anyone recommend, preferably from experience, a suitable matt black paint to coat the down pipes on my kerker K-series 4-1 exhaust. The original coating is some sort of ceramic based matt black finish which has now deteriorated.
I have searched the web site and so far found bbq paint and automotive mainfold paint. However, having read through several classic car and bike forums, the result is always the same. None of them work for long.
Any ideas?
I am also considering a teflon coating. Any body tried this?

Sperex VHT or PJ1 exhaust paint are very good products.

As Jack says, Sperex is excellent, but not all that easy to get hold of. I've used it on several trail bike systems, with good results.
Four pipes rule, anything else is second best.

Thanks guy's. I have managed to get hold of the sperex VHT paint and will be doing the down-pipes over the next few days. I will post some pics of the Kerker K-series system as I think it will be of interest to all owners who prefer 4-1 pipes. In my opinion, probably the best looking and best sounding pipes made for the early Zed's.
