Front brake master cylinder

#1 PostAuthor: Z1B Alan » Tue Jul 22, 2008 8:08 pm

After a short ride the other day I noticed damp oiley residue on the right hand switch gear this I believe is from a weeping master cylinder. the cylinder is the 5/8 one for the twin disc setup I have and Z Power sell the repair kit my question is this? is it a difficult repair and do I need any service tools for the job etc.????. Will dot 4 brake fluid be ok or is a special fluid required . Our kid John Roscoe is a wiz with the spanners so any advice in advance would be good.
p.s. He's on holiday at the moment so if the news is bad I can break it to him on the phone
They run, They break , You spend and so it goes on

No , It is not hard to do but patience is required ! Only special tool is a long nose circlip pliers to remove the piston from master cylinder and Dot 4 fluid will be OK .

Circlip is a pain to get out
Had to modify a pair of ordinary circlip pliers to fit...Otherwise easy enough..
