Huzzah! John McCarten of JMC just emailed me with:

"Your arm was welded and inspected today prior to going to polishers they collect from us on Tuesday"

At last I can see me getting on with the project. I didn't actually pay to have it polished - I can only assume it's a goodwill gesture on their part after we had "words" about the incredible length of time it's taken to be completed.

seems to be the norm with them at jmc ,i think thats wrong and its not good business to have a back log streching back months .
Kosman racing are the same ,Jeff of z1 enterprises was telling me they have been waiting nigh on 12 months for some parts.
Its a shame cos these companys have great products ,but are let down by either not enough workers or lousy contractors

I said pretty much the same thing in our back and forth emails. Five months is unacceptable. The bits were cut up over nine weeks back so it's taken over two months to jig them up and weld. It got to the point when I said I was going to cancel my order. Funnily enough everything started moving then. Annoyingly Metmachex had one in the same style off the shelf for another £50. The alloy might not have been to the same super standard but it would have been ample for my needs. The only reason I didn't get one from them originally was they didn't answer my email asking for a quote. I figured they either no longer made them to fit my bike or they just couldn't be arsed.

There's something very wrong with the way some of these firms do business. I get better service when dealing with the Yanks. They never seem to be able to do enough for you (your money).

Agree on that, ordering stuff from US is easy and quick.

I always check out first if things can be bought there, I will not buy anything regarding MC here in Norway, whatsoever.

Hmm see a separate thread about to start!
I bought most of my kettle bits from the US, cost effective, fast and accurate. Great delivery, I could go on..... Their suppliers are very helpful
The great thing about Zeds is its cheaper and not as competitive if you use ebay.

why do we have to pay so much more in UK for exactly the same components in the rest of the world?

It's still sitting on my bench. I'm waitng on sourcing some cast wheels at the mo. Also I'm modding a Triumph chain rubbing strip to go on as a precautionary measure. Also ... Wemoto sourced me a chain and sprocket kit but the engine sprocket holes aren't big enough to allow the fitment of the complicated bolt safety device. I'm waiting on a HSS drill bit for my pillar drill so I can open it up. Looks like it ain't going to be on the road this summer (such as it is).

The JMC came with all bearings and spindle to fit though.

I think they might be off a Z1000 ST,shaft drive,check out the rear cush drive layout.
The 7 bolt fixing J type discs won't fit.

I'm resigned to the fact that whatever I do I'm going to be spending a fair bit of money. Had hoped someone would come through with the K1 wheels but that looks like it's come to nought. Even if I did get the K1s I'm still going to have to spend out on the front disks. The M1 uses four bolts on the front disks whereas the K1 / Js use seven. I'd need new pads to go with the disks too. I can still use the rear disk off the M1 on a K1 / J rear wheel though. If I use early Z1000 wheels I might be able to use my M1 front disks - I seem to recall my Z1000-H disks were four bolters. But then my rear disk will be redundant. It's a nightmare I tell you. My thumbs have gone weird.

Guy,have you considered some GPz1100 uni-trak wheels ??
The front is an 18" and the rear is a 17",would they be any good to you or is a smaller front wheel and larger rear wheel not what you're after ??
I've got a pair of GPz750 wheels,which are 18" front and rear if you want to try them on your bike and see how they look,work,etc.
The front has got a 110/80 tyre and the rear has got a 150/70.
I'm in Towcester next weekend if you want to collect 'em.

Cheers, Jack - at the Mo I've got my peepers on a set on Ebay that may do the trick but I'd certainly be open to your kind offer. I'll do some cross-referencing and see how do-able it is regarding spacers - speedo gearbox / ratios and such like and get back to you.
