Dyna S Ignition on ELR

#1 PostAuthor: martinz1000r » Fri Jul 11, 2008 2:09 pm

Is this a worthwhile investment on my 1984 Z1000R? As it slowly comes back together and I have a little cash is it worth splashing out?

Recommendations welcomed!

Hi Martin,
I Always fit one to my bikes Z1 Z1A and A4. and as they all start and run better i find it a good investment. I buy mine from Jeff at z1 enterprises due to the exchange rate, plus they only take 15 mins to fit.

Z1 Enterprises seem to want about half the cost of buying one in the UK. I have to say if I get another Zed the first thing I'll do is pop Dyna S on it. The dearer ones really aren't worth the extra wedge and are quite temperamental.

Go for it mate! They're Gerrrrrrrrreat! -- Sadly I'm not on commission :(

I think what Rich means is the electronic ignition on the 1000R is pretty reliable - the Dyna S is a shitload better than points but if the Kwak ignition is working why change it.

Thanks to Rich and ChrisNI! There is nothing wrong with the standard ignition hence the question - would I gain anything?

From what you both say then the answer is no and I'll keep the cash a bit longer until the standard packs up!

You would gain a bit if you put the coils on, but you would probably not notice with a std engine and loom in good condition. The ignition unit it is reliable and certainly on a par with the Dyna S unit.
