I have a mate who's got a spray booth and he has said that I can use it to paint baby Zeds tank etc.
I've got my own gun, el cheapo from Machine Mart.
I think I'll keep it simple and paint one colour, add some vinyl graphics and then a load of lacquer.
Can any one give me some tips on the easiest paint to use which will last. I guess the lacquer is the import bit for lasting. And of course tips on how to go about the job. I have always been a bit crap at painting, but I really want to learn, so any pointers would be much appreciated. If I et on well with painting Baby Zed then I might be a bit more confident about painting my next project. I would like to use a metallic paint, praps bright red.

I've done old land rovers etc in the past but I'd not do my bikes - I'm nowhere near good enough...............

it is not that hard to get a good finish.
the layman's version is to lay down a coat, smooth it down wikth wet 'n'n dry, starting with 600 -> 800 - > 1200 putting down another coat in between. Final coat I dilute even more with thinner to it flows nicer and the finish is as goog if not better than on a production car. The same would apply to the laquer, again the fianlk coat thinned down. The other approach is to slap on the paint and then buff is down with a polisher buy I find my method does not require that.
this ^^^^ is for single clour paints, not metaillic.
