Blimey! What a tale of woe (expense  )! Well done for sticking with it - the Zed will definitely be worth it.

Hope it gives you many many miles of use :D

may be a false alarm?
Seems to be running lean. You cant make it up can ya?

Heats up too quick and there is clutch rattle and slight tingle on the bars.

I think its running lean and the carbs need a balance. Going to have the old carbs ultrasonically cleaned ASAP.

I read the article on "running in" To be honest I have nad a few bikes and a few cars ove the last thirty od years and I simply start it up and drive it. Not over revving for the first 500 miles but on over taking do it quick but not fast if you know what I mean. After a 1000 mile, a compression tets to check it and then it normal operation.
thanks all
Phil

carbs balanced its better now. Still runs very hot though. Hope this tails off after run in. At least its ridable at last. Speedo is knackered though. Another ebay purchase. So many damn cheats and crooks sellling Z1 parts these days. Better to go Z1 enterprises and Zpower. At least it will be working then eh?

solved the problems.

Carbs from the USA had size 15 idlers instead of 17.5 and mixture screws were all set wrong. Running richer now and plugs a nice deep brown with slight black on tip. Rides better and from 3000-4000 wrenches the arms well if pulled back quick.

Handles like a pig as they do but probably get some better tyres and some new shocks at some point. Weather stopped me putting on more than 200 miles so a way to go.
cheers
