I mounted a Boyer ignition today, and calibrate ignition with a strobe. 1500rpm = 5deg. and 3000rpm = 40deg. running smooth idle at 1000rpm, but when doing a testride it missfire between 6000 and 8000 at full trottle. What's wrong?? The sparks do have the right colour so I don't think it's the carbs, do any of you have the same experience?

Dyna S is good....
Dyna 2000 (programmable) not so clever ...
Sent my unit off end last week to Dynatek to await their test report
As I am an impatient runt, I ordered a Dyna S to get me Black Zed running and good old Z1Enterprises, it turned up today... super fast service as always... cheers Jeff & team

ignition
Assuming it was allright before you fitted the BB ignition, check all the connections, etc, both my Z's have had Boyer ignition on when I bought them so I have never been able to do a back to back comparison with any other make, the only thing is, I find the strobe bounces about alot when setting up the advance, but other than that it revs out ok. p.s try backing the ignition off a bit and try it then, good luck z1000 chris

Bikes will lead you into a life of grime....

I've religously stuck BB on all my old Brit bikes and it has worked perfectly no bother.
Strobing has had to be set up using a battery remote from the bike, as using it on the bike always set it up about 2 degrees retarded leading to ignition in the zorsts and overheating.
But my Kwak has Dyna S and I have to say it is absolutely spot on and reliable.

I think BB is used on loads of british iron, as thats one of the FEW choices.
BB is a bit fragile and as stated, not the best.
I now had another Dyna S on me Black Zed and it took literally 15 mins to set up and get going
I just had an email back from Dynatek about me Dyna 2000, and they are just waiting for it to arrive
and said they'd get on it pronto. Must admit they have replied to all my emails and seem pretty helpful & keen - so far
For the ££££, get a Dyna S from Z1Enterprises, it'll be about £70 delivered, and you'll get it within a working week too

boyer bransden ignition
You may be better off emailing Boyer as their telephone technical helpline is only available at specified times. You can get their email from their site. I sent an email to them last week re. which coils to use on my z900 with their micro digital sysyem and they replied within 4 hours.

Here is the reply I received. It may be useful to other owners:
Re: Ignition Coils
Dear Sir, The Micro Digital systems are designed to run with contact breaker specification coils. This type of coil should have a resistance at the primary winding of about 4.5 Ohms.
These ignition units can be damaged if used with HT coils of less than 3.5 Ohms.
The instructions for this system (KIT00088) can be found at the website.
