Electronic ignition compatable?

#1 PostAuthor: SP10mk11 » Sat May 17, 2008 6:36 am

and another thing

Can anyone confirm that the electronic ignition i fitted from a Z1000 mk11 has the same timing as the Z1R

Its just i am wondering if my running rich problem is maybe because the timing is not the same and it is actually retarded by conparision the Z1R timing

Obviously if i check it with a strobe it is spot on but if it is different a strobe check is not going to show this up

just another "I wonder if its that" causing the problem thought

Mk11 ignition

I have used both Dyna S and Pirahna ignition systems to replace defunct OEM setups on Mk11s and on pre-electronic zeds and none of them gave any options for different models and all worked absolutely perfectly. The advance and retard is mechanical on these models. I'm pretty sure they're just a triggering unit with no 'timing curve' function but I'm sure someone will tell me if I'm wrong!

Timdaker.... Dyna S & Pirahna ignition are (as you say) just replacements for the points bit, and do NOT have an advance function. :)
DYNA 2000 does have the advance/retard built in
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!
